Christof Regl's PhD Thesis entitled Quantification and Site Specific Assignment of Post-translational Modifications in Monoclonal Antibodies was recognized with the Merck-Award for PhD Theses in Sciences 2019. Prof. Jörg von Hagen of Merck GmbH, Darmstadt, emphasized the tremendous importance of in-depth protein characterization in the pharmaceutical industry in order to guarantee the safety and quality of protein-based pharmaceuticals.
Congratulations!

In a recent LC-GC Europe supplement, winners of poster awards at ICS 2018 in Cannes-Mandelieu/France and HPLC 2019 in Milan/Italy have been interviewed about their research and scientific perspectives Therese Wohlschlager recalls her poster presented in Cannes entitled Dilute-and-Shoot Analysis of Therapeutic Monoclonal Antibody Glycosylation from Fermentation Broth: A Method Capability Study. Congratulations!

Katharina Böttinger and Christian Huber attended the 30th Jubilee Meeting of PhD Students in the Field of Separation Science organized by the Working Group Separation Science of the German Chemical Society. The program featured a number of high-class presentations focusing on all aspects of modern spearation techniques, including a presentation entitled Glycosylation Profiling of Intact Monoclonal Antibodies by IP-RP HPLC-MS given by Katharina (full program here). Highlight of the anniversary party was music presented by the group Chemists after Dark featuring Saarbrücken Alumni Frank Steiner, Jochen Saar, and Stephan Lamotte, as well as Salzburg Alumnus Volker Neu: excellent performance and lots of fun!

Christof Regl's and Therese Wohlschlager's study into the performance characteristics of HPLC-MS for analyzing multiple attributes of therapeutic antibodies at the intact protein level was accepted for publication in mAbs. The study was initiated by Johann Holzmann and first experiments were performed quite some time ago by Iris Wagner and Martin Samonig.
